The adventure began when Aethelred Silverstar, Amera Silverstar, and Valtyra Silverstar met Cynder and “Red” Sonja at the gates of Sandpoint the morning of the Swallowtail Festival.
The morning began with some opening speeches from Mayor Deverin, Sheriff Hemlock, Cyrdrak Drokkus and Father Abstalar Zantus.
After the opening speeches the companions visited the many booths and games of the festival enjoyed by some and tolerated by others (Aethelred Silverstar) for most of the day. They spent some coin and even won a few prizes.
As dust began to fall, Father Abstalar Zantus, used a Thunderstone to get everyone’s attention to begin the dedication of the new cathedral. That is when things took a turn for the worse. That is when the attack happened.
Goblins were everywhere, setting fires, attacking people and animals and destroying property. The heroes jumped into action fighting the goblins, even taking out a goblin warchanter. After that is when they heard cries for help from a nobleman of Magnimar, Aldern Foxglove. as they found him pinned down behind a cart by several goblins, a larger goblin riding a goblin dog slew his hunting dog.
The heroes dispatched the goblins and saved Foxglove.
Foxglove was very grateful for the heroes saving his life. He was especially thankful to Valtyra much to the disdain of Aethelred. Aldern invited the companions to join him for dinner the following evening at the Rusty Dragon to begin thanking them for saving his life.
Once the attack had been thwarted Cynder and Aethelred questioned a captured goblin about what seemed to be a very coordinated attack. All the goblin could tell them was that a “longshanks” had organized the attack while he took a group to do something at the boneyard, Sandpoint’s graveyard.
Ameiko Kaijitsu and The Sheriff, tracked down the companions to thank them for their assistance. Ameiko offered them free rooms for a week as well as free dinner and drinks that evening and Sheriff Hemlock asked to meet with them in the morning.
Valtyra went to the cathedral and offered her services to a very grateful Father Zantus. She stayed there with her husband watching until well past midnight.
The next morning Belor Hemlock found Cynder and “Red” Sonja eating breakfast and asked them to gather their companions and meet him and Father Zantus at the cathedral. What they found at that meeting was that the tomb in the graveyard belonging to the former head priest of the cathedral.
Upon investigating the vault they found that someone had left behind two animated skeletons to attack any who tried to enter. These were easily destroyed and the vault was searched. The sarcophagus was found to be empty. The only “clue” left behind was the remains of a Bone Robe lacking any more patches. Outside both Amera and Cynder found tracks of one medium sized humanoid and six goblins leading to and from the wall and vault. They came to the conclusion that the attack on Sandpoint was just a distraction to allow the theft of this particular corpse. At the urgings of the sheriff they agreed to keep this information to themselves.
That evening they met Aldern Foxglove for dinner and he invited them to accompany him on a boar hunt in two days and even offered to buy the horses and tack for the hunt. Both Cynder and Aethelred attempted to dissuade Aldern of his attentions to Valtyra, but he remained oblivious at best.
Thus ends the first adventure log of the Heroes of Sandpoint.
