With celestial blood coursing through her veins, Valtyra was called to service by Iomedae herself. To fight the evil her husband, Kolvar, had become. Valtyra, young and in love with Kolvar, married when she was just of age. Spent some time dappling in the ways of Iomedae, but never giving it her all. She wanted to just play house and enjoy the company of her husband. Something she will forever regret.
Kolvar, a priest of Iomedae, was liked and respected by all. He had great promise to be the next High Priest of the temple. But not soon enough for Kolvar. He was never satisfied with the gifts the goddess bestowed on him. He became enticed by a high ranking evil priestess of Eiseth. She was graceful, beautiful and very powerful.
Valtyra learned of his ‘friendship’ with Pharren, the priestess. She begged and pleaded with Kolvar to forgo his friendship with Pharren. But by the time his involvement was discovered – it had grown well beyond friendship. Although, Valtyra did not know.
She dove into her studies, hoping to find the answer to turn his heart back to their beloved Iomedea! Iomedea blessed her greatly and she grew strong in the faith and in her abilities. Kolvar and her grew closer and she thought it was working. They talked of having a child. Kolvar said it would be the perfect thing to set him on the right path. Sharian, a baby girl, was born and she was truly precious to Valtyra. Kolvar showed his love for her daily. He would watch and play her as Valtyra studied. He even took her on daily walks – Valtyra thought. What he was really doing was preparing her for a sacrifice. His final step into total darkness.
On the morning before the night of the new moon of her 6 month, he left with her. Valtyra waited all day for their return. Something wasn’t right, she felt it. She went though his belongings. He didn’t take much and what he left behind told her that she had been totally and utterly deceived! Valtyra went looking for them. Asking around and piecing small clues together, she found them 2 days later. And much too late.
Sharian, her baby girl, was dead. Kolvar was drunk on the power he received from her sacrifice. And Pharren was smiling, reveling in their joint evil debauchery. Valtyra flew into a rage!!
Believing Iomedae took pity on her that day. And granting her the power needed to strike down evil, she beheaded Kolvar before he could utter a word!
Pharren was not so easy to dispatch. In the end, Valtyra believes she mortally wounded her. But not certain.
She carried her precious baby back to the temple. By the next day she was in charge of routing out a terrible evil that had seeped into the priesthood, threatening to destroy it from within. It took months! And when the last trial was over – Valtyra walked away. She’s never looked back….and she’ll never return.
That was many, many years ago. she has dedicated her life to serving Iomedae. She goes where Iomedea leads.
While traveling over the years, Valtyra has guarded her heart. Never getting too close to anyone. Until she came through a remote elven stronghold. Iomedea opened her heart to Aethelred. She fell in love and married him. A minor elven prince, he was unlike anyone she had met and she was enchanted. When politics relating to the marriage forced the prince to become exiled from his homeland, she left with him and together we adventure across Golarion. And she’s never been happier.
