With information information in hand, gathered from the letter found in Ameiko’s room by Bethana, the heroes head out in the early morning hours to the Glassworks.
When they arrived the PCs found smoke pouring forth from the chimneys as if the Glassworks was open and operating, but the windows were shuttered and the doors were locked.Nearby neighbors assumed that Lonjiku was busy working on some large order and did not want to be disturbed. While the adventurers investigated to find a way in, a small crowd began to gather. Aethelred “diplomatically” tried to disperse the crowd as much as he was able. The crowd was finally intimidated into backing away.
Upon entry to the building they found that goblins had taken over and killed the workers. These very same goblins were currently in the large furnace room running amok, breaking glass and dismembering and burning body parts. The goblins were so intent other celebration they didn’t notice the PCs until it was too late. Opening with a sleep spell from Aethelred, “Red” Sonja, Cynder and Valtyra made short work pf the others. During the fight they discovered to their horror that Lonjiku Kaijitsu had been encased in molten glass. They were able to capture and interrogate a goblin outside the Glassworks. They learned that Tsuto Kaijitsu had taken his sister, Ameiko, and was in the basement of the building.
The goblin, tied to a tree, was left to the “justice” of the citizens of Sandpoint.
The PCs found Tsuto Kaijitsu just waking up in a room turned into a makeshift sleeping chamber in the basement. Due to some good strategy they were able to kill Tsuto and found the beaten and bound Ameiko in a neighboring room.
A journal found in Tsuto’s room indicated that he was working with Nualia Tobyn. A section of the basement wall had been torn down revealing an old tunnel that led to a cave at the cliffs. There was another walled section that had been torn down there revealing a tunnel that led back inward from the coast.
The story is continued in the next post.
